Website FAQ’s
- If I’m an experienced makeup artist, must I take BC Prep?
- Yes. All of the classes in Part 2 refer back to Bootcamp Part 1 (Bootcamp
Prep). Corrective makeup is the most used form of makeup. It is not the
most fun, but it is where all of my theory starts.
- Do you issue licenses / certificates?
- We issue Certificate of Completion. This is not a license. To be
licensed in NY State, you must either take Cosmetology (1000 hours) or
Esthetics (600 hours) There is very little makeup training in either of
these courses, but in NY State, you are supposed to have one of these
licenses to apply makeup for money.
- Do you teach Cosmetology?
- What do I need to bring to class?
- Cleanser, moisturizer, a washcloth and your brushes.
- Must I take all of the classes in BC II?
- No, you may take classes individually!
- I want to be a makeup artist, but I’ve no skills. What classes do you
have to help get me started?
- Do you offer financial aid?
- No, our workshops are not long enough.
- What methods of payment do you accept?
- Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex and cash. Sorry, no checks.
- I want to take bridal Bootcamp. Do I need to take Bootcamp Prep first?
- If you have not done any makeup yet, we suggest Bootcamp Prep to
begin with.
- Can I purchase professional makeup cases, brushes and cosmetics at a
discount?
- I’ve taken BC Prep, but I don’t have makeup or a kit. Can you help?
- We sell all of the supplies used in class. We don’t believe in
making you purchase a "Required Makeup Kit" from us.
- Will your certificate help me get a job at a cosmetic counter?
- Sometimes, yes. Many times counters like to see some retail
experience. If you have none, then you might consider Interning at The
Makeup Shop.
- You are a school, right?
- No, we teach informal workshops.
